The revised DA and DR will come into effect from January 1, 2026, marking a 2 per cent increase over the existing 58 per cent rate of basic pay and pension. With this revision, the DA and DR will rise to 60 per cent. The hike has been approved to offset the impact of rising prices.
Officials said the revised rates have been calculated in accordance with the accepted formula based on the recommendations of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
Reacting to the decision, Union Home Minister Amit Shah described it as a“major gift” to central government employees and pensioners.
