Eurozone Unemployment Sees Slight Rise


(MENAFN) The unemployment rate within the euro area reached 6.2% in February, marking a modest uptick from the previous month, according to official statistics published on Wednesday by Eurostat.

Eurostat highlighted that the eurozone’s unemployment rate climbed from 6.1% in January, although it remained lower than the 6.3% recorded in February 2025.

Across the European Union, the unemployment figure held steady at 5.9% in February relative to January, while showing a decline from 6% in the same month last year.

The agency estimated that around 13.1 million individuals in the EU were without work in February, including 10.9 million residing in the eurozone.

When compared to January, the number of unemployed persons rose by 137,000 across the EU and by 93,000 within the euro area.

Youth unemployment among those under 25 years of age reached 15.3% in the EU and 14.9% in the eurozone in February.
