E3 Group Pledge Defensive Measures Against Iranian Missile Attacks

(MENAFN) The leaders of the E3 nations declared on Sunday that they are ready to implement “necessary and proportionate defensive measures” to safeguard their interests and those of allies in the Middle East, following what they described as indiscriminate Iranian missile strikes throughout the region, according to reports.

In a joint statement, the heads of the United Kingdom, France, and Germany condemned Iran’s “reckless attacks,” noting that they pose a danger to both military personnel and civilians.

They emphasized, “We call on Iran to stop these reckless attacks immediately. We will take steps to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially through enabling necessary and proportionate defensive action to destroy Iran’s capability to fire missiles and drones at their source.”

The statement also noted that the three countries will coordinate closely with the United States and regional partners to manage the escalating situation.

Tensions surged on Saturday after US and Israeli forces conducted strikes in Iran, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports. Tehran responded with a series of drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, US positions, and multiple Gulf nations.
