Uzbekistan, Isdb Sign Deal To Advance Transport Infrastructure Project

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 13. The Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) has signed a $70 million financing agreement with Uzbekistan to support the reconstruction of a major regional road corridor, Trend reports via the bank.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 2nd AlUla Conference for Emerging Market Economies by IsDB President Muhammad Al Jasser and Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Djamshid Kuchkarov.

This financing marks a key phase in the IsDB's broader commitment of $192 million towards the reconstruction of the 4R40 Dashtabad-Zaamin-Bakhmal-Galyaaral Road Project.

The funds will facilitate the reconstruction of 143 kilometers of the 4R40 highway, along with the rehabilitation of 30 kilometers of local and rural roads in Uzbekistan's Jizzakh Region.

The project is anticipated to alleviate transit bottlenecks, enhance road safety for approximately 200,000 residents, and strengthen connectivity along the M39 international corridor, thereby improving access to markets, social services, and tourism opportunities.

To date, the IsDB has approved a total of $5.4 billion in financing for Uzbekistan, highlighting the scale and strategic significance of the bank's support for the country's long-term development.
