U.S. Asks Venezuela To Sever Ties With Russia, China, And Iran In Exchange For Oil Supplies

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The United States has asked Venezuela to cut ties with Russia, China, and Iran, offering increased oil supplies in exchange, officials say.

The United States has reportedly asked Venezuela to cut economic ties with Russia, China, and Iran, ABC News cited U.S. officials as saying on Wednesday, January 7.

Washington made the request to Venezuela's interim President, Delcy Rodríguez, offering increased oil production in exchange for severing relations with the mentioned countries.

The U.S. also urged Caracas to agree to work exclusively with Washington in the oil sector, highlighting energy cooperation as a key element of the deal.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Venezuela's interim authorities have agreed to provide up to 50 million barrels of oil to the United States.

China and Russia have strongly opposed U.S. pressure on Venezuela, condemning what they describe as U.S. aggression at the United Nations Security Council.

Both countries have also called for the release of Nicolás Maduro, Venezuela's elected president, and criticized attempts to undermine Caracas' international relations and sovereignty.

The U.S.-Venezuela discussions signal intensified efforts by Washington to secure energy supplies while limiting Caracas' cooperation with geopolitical rivals.

Observers warn that any move to isolate Venezuela from Russia, China, and Iran could further escalate tensions in Latin America and complicate international oil markets.
