Astana: Iran and Kazakhstan have emphasized the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a range of sectors, according to a joint statement issued at the end of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian's visit to Astana.

President Pezeshkian and Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highlighted the importance of expanding economic, cultural and transport ties, and identified joint efforts to promote regional security and sustainable development as key priorities.

The two leaders underlined the strategic value of the North-South Transport Corridor and said attracting joint investments should remain at the forefront of cooperation between the two countries.

Both presidents also voiced concern over rising armed conflicts, sanctions pressures and global trade tensions. They stressed that disputes between states must be resolved peacefully and through diplomatic means.

The statement reiterated the importance of developing the North-South Corridor and advancing rail connectivity linking Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran.
