Türkiye’s Trade Minister Set for USD100B Trade Target Talks with U.S.

(MENAFN) Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat will travel to Washington on Friday for high-level negotiations aimed at achieving the $100 billion bilateral trade volume target and strengthening economic partnerships between Türkiye and the US, sources informed media.

Bolat is scheduled to convene with Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, alongside representatives from US Chamber of Commerce member corporations.

Tangible measures will be implemented to reach the $100 billion trade volume target set by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The deliberations will focus on consulting the current roadmap in strategic areas to boost the potential for cooperation between Türkiye and the US, in areas ranging from energy to investments, and the defense industry to advanced technologies, while new cooperation opportunities will be assessed.

Efficient utilization and continued expansion of all existing frameworks, including the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) between Türkiye and the US, will also be on the agenda.

The Turkish Trade Ministry remains committed to establishing balanced and sustainable trade with the US, while promoting mutual investments, in line with Erdogan's framework, the sources said.

Bolat's diplomatic mission represents a milestone, confirming the strong economic ties between Türkiye and the US — two allies — despite challenging conditions in global trade, while further solidifying future cooperation prospects and reinforcing the strategic partnership between both nations.
