Dubai Turf Club To Encourage Next Generation Of Racing Enthusiasts Khaleej Times
The inaugural Dubai Turf Club (DTC) Dinner took place on Saturday evening at the Arts Club, Dubai.
Formed with support from Sophie Ryan of Dubai Racing Club (DRC), and emulating the Jockey Club and Newmarket Racecourses-founded Cambridge University Horse Racing Society, the DTC aims to encourage the next generation of racing enthusiasts in the UAE and bring together like-minded young people at DRC's home of horse racing - Meydan.
Recommended For YouAmong the attendees were founding members and senior supporters of the Club, including Charles Yardley, CEO of the Khaleej Times. Harry Tregoning, a Dubai-based entrepreneur with strong family ties to racing, was welcomed as the Guest of Honour.
Sophie Ryan, Head of Corporate Communications, Marketing & Brand, represented DRC.
Other notable members included Jack Weatherby, Martin Blechta and Alice Weightman.
Tregoning took the guests on a ride along his journey in racing from growing up around horses, meeting his lovely wife, Laetitia, at Pony Club, and his family's involvement in the sport through to the Darley Arabian.
He also hailed Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, for transforming horse racing through the creation of Godolphin and the Dubai World Cup, establishing the UAE as a world leader in the sport.
The evening culminated with the election of Isaac Carter as President of the Dubai Turf Club for the 2025-2026 season.
