U.S. Approves Military Equipment Sales to Ukraine

(MENAFN) The United States State Department has greenlit a potential deal to supply Ukraine with the HAWK Phase III Missile System, along with necessary support and related gear, according to a statement from the Pentagon on Wednesday.

The total projected value of this deal is approximately $172 million.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, "This proposed sale will improve Ukraine’s capability to meet current and future threats by further equipping it to conduct self-defense and regional security missions with a more robust air defense capability."

This move is aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s capacity to counter evolving dangers by enhancing its air defense systems.

Key firms involved in this transaction include Sielman Corporation based in Greece, RTX Corporation located in the U.S. state of Massachusetts, and PROJECTXYZ, which operates out of Alabama.

In a separate move, the State Department also authorized a potential sale to Ukraine involving Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, as well as support for their upkeep, including maintenance, repairs, and overhauls. This package is expected to cost around $150 million.

The primary companies set to handle this segment of the sale are BAE Systems, Cummins Inc., Leonardo DRS Inc., and Renk Group AG. All associated work will be executed in Europe.

On Monday, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth participated virtually in a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group.

The session was spearheaded by defense officials from the UK and Germany.

Established in 2022 by the U.S., the Ukraine Defense Contact Group was created to organize and streamline global military support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
