Central Iran witnesses two moderate earthquakes


(MENAFN) According to reports, Iran was hit by two moderate earthquakes late Saturday, both occurring at the exact same time and affecting separate regions of the country.

One of the tremors, with a magnitude of 5.3, struck areas in northern and central Iran at 2137 GMT. The quake originated at a depth of 10 kilometers, with its epicenter located at 36.72°N latitude and 55.10°E longitude.

At the same time, a second earthquake measuring 5.4 on the magnitude scale was recorded approximately 31 kilometers east of Qarnabad, a village in northeastern Iran. This event also had a depth of 10 kilometers, with the epicenter marked at 36.84°N latitude and 54.94°E longitude.

Authorities have not yet released detailed information on potential damage or casualties resulting from the twin seismic events.
