Jordan Welcomes Iran-Israel Ceasefire Agreement
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, June 24 (Petra) -- Jordan on Tuesday welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of a ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Israel. The Kingdom emphasized the agreement's crucial role in de-escalating the dangerous tensions currently gripping the region.
Ambassador Sufian Qudah, the official spokesperson for Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, underscored the Kingdom's position, stating, "Jordan stresses the need to uphold this agreement to protect the region from further escalation."
He highlighted that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path to resolve all crises, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Qudah also reiterated that a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, specifically a two-state solution, is essential for lasting security, stability, and peace in the broader region.
He called for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, an end to Israeli aggression, and the humanitarian catastrophe it has caused. Furthermore, he urged the launch of a genuine political process to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution, in line with international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
