Tragedy In Swat: Boat Capsizes In Kalam's Shahi Bagh, 5 Dead, 3 Still Missing

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) A boating trip turned tragic in the scenic valley of Kalam, Swat, as a boat carrying tourists capsized in the Shahi Bagh area, leaving five people dead, including two women, while three others, including two young siblings, remain missing.

According to rescue officials, the victims belonged to a single family from Mardan. The incident occurred when the boat's engine failed midstream, causing it to lose control and overturn in the fast-flowing river.

Local police confirmed that seven people were onboard. Two women lost their lives on the spot, while three others, including a child, are still unaccounted for. However, one child and the boat operator were rescued alive by locals who rushed to help.

Rescue operations entered their second day on Saturday, as teams continue the search for the missing, including a young brother and sister. Difficult terrain and the river's strong current have hampered the rescue efforts.

A video of the incident circulating on social media shows panicked passengers clinging to ropes, desperately trying to escape the torrent. Authorities have urged tourists to avoid risky water activities in mountainous rivers without proper safety measures.

Officials say the search will continue until all the missing are recovered.
