Deadly Traffic Mishap in South Africa Claims Twelve Lives
(MENAFN) A devastating collision between a bus and a truck on the R34 near Vryheid in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, claimed 12 lives early Monday, authorities revealed Tuesday.
Siboniso Duma, KwaZulu-Natal’s Executive Council member for Transport and Human Settlements, confirmed the tragic crash happened around midnight. Initial reports indicate that ten individuals died instantly at the scene, while another ten sustained severe injuries and were rushed to hospitals nearby. Tragically, two of those injured later passed away in medical care.
"Based on the report from the Road Traffic Inspectorate, after the head-on collision, the truck struck the side of the bus," Duma stated.
Officials have launched a thorough investigation to uncover the exact cause behind this fatal accident.
