Duisburg Schools Shift to Online Learning After Far-Right Threats
(MENAFN) In the northwestern German city of Duisburg, multiple schools transitioned to online education on Monday after receiving threatening emails from far-right groups, as reported by a regional public broadcaster.
Authorities stated that over twelve schools had been targeted by these threatening emails, which were sent by far-right extremists since Friday.
As a result, police have been taking precautionary actions while the investigation is ongoing.
The police have also been maintaining a presence at various schools on Monday, as mentioned in an official statement.
“After evaluating the overall situation, experts from Duisburg's State Security came to the assessment that these threats were not serious,” officials noted.
However, they emphasized that precautionary measures would continue to be in place “to minimize any potential risks.”
As a result of these threats, more than twelve schools decided to suspend face-to-face classes and shift to remote learning on Monday.
Additionally, many other schools provided online learning as a safety move, giving parents the option to choose whether their children would personally go to school.
