Qatar Welcomes Over 191,000 Cruise Passengers


(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – Qatar welcomed over 53 ships with 191,944 tourists during the first half of the 2024/2025 cruise season, Qatari state news agency QNA reported on Monday (3). The midpoint of the season, which ends in April, was reached on January 20.

Qatar Tourism, the agency promoting tourism in the country, said in a statement that the season's success reaffirms Qatar's position as a growing hub for cruise tourism in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The GCC also includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

So far this season, the main cruise visitors to Qatar are from Germany (30.2%), followed by Russia (10.8%) and Italy (9.2%). During this period, four new ships docked in Doha for the first time-Resorts World One, MSC Euribia, Celestyal Journey, and Costa Smeralda.

“Looking ahead, more than 30 cruise ships are expected by the end of the season in April 2025, bringing approximately 185,000, which demonstrates the rising demand for Qatar's exceptional cruise offerings combined with strong partnerships with global cruise operators,” Chief of the Tourism Development Sector at Qatar Tourism Omar Al Jaber said.
