Amman, February 2 (Petra) -- Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and Slovenian Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon discussed, on Sunday, regional developments and ties in Amman.
Safadi and Fajon discussed enhancing cooperation, especially as part of the EU framework, in key areas such as the economy, investment, information technology, tourism, defence and security.
The top diplomats agreed on the need to uphold the ceasefire in Gaza and ensure the immediate delivery of humanitarian aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip.
In statements to the press, Safadi praised Slovenia's support for the Palestinians' right to statehood based on the two-state solution. He noted Slovenia's efforts through its membership in the UN Security Council to halt the Israeli war on Gaza and facilitate humanitarian assistance.
Safadi lauded Slovenia's role in launching the Friends of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) initiative, in partnership with Jordan and Kuwait, on July 12, 2024.
Safadi and Fajon discussed Syria, where the former reiterated Jordan's support for the Syrian people in rebuilding their country on the principles of unity and cohesion, preserving the rights of all its communities, eradicating terrorism and creating the conditions for the voluntary return of refugees.
Safadi and Fojan said Jordan and Slovenia are committed to supporting Lebanon, ensuring its stability and maintaining the functionality of its institutions.
They urged an effective political movement toward implementing the two-state solution as the "only path" to achieving regional security, stability and peace.
For her part, Fajon said Slovenia is committed to developing its relationship with Jordan and working together to realise regional peace and stability.
She reaffirmed Slovenia's support for the two-state solution and its rejection of the displacement of Palestinians or the annexation of Palestinian land.
Fajon added that her country supports UNRWA, underscoring that the agency's work is "indispensable and irreplaceable."
She noted the "close" collaboration between Slovenia and Jordan to enhance economic cooperation, particularly in defence and artificial intelligence.
She called for a comprehensive process to ensure sustainable peace in Syria, safeguarding the rights of the Syrian people in all its communities.
On Lebanon, Fajon stressed that a ceasefire would bring stability to the country, and she affirmed Slovenia's role in the UN Security Council to support the sustainability of peace in Lebanon.
