Qatar Reaffirms Firm Support For Palestinian People, Independent State


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) DOHA, Feb 2 (KUNA) -- Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman reaffirmed on Sunday Qatar's firm support for the Palestinian people and their rights to an independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
According to a statement by the Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Mohammad made these remarks during a meeting in Doha with Secretary-General of the Palestinian Fatah Movement's Central Committee Major General Jibril Rajoub where both discussed developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.
Sheikh Mohammad stressed the importance of ending internal divisions and uniting Palestinian ranks to achieve their legitimate national rights, the statement added.
The meeting also covered bilateral cooperation and ways to strengthen it, along with discussions on regional issues. (end)
