Zelensky On Deployment Of European Peacekeepers: Dialogue Continues Yet Many Questions Remain
(MENAFN- UkrinForm) President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that discussions about the idea of deploying a European peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine are ongoing, but this mission cannot be the only guarantee of security.
He made this statement in an interview with the Associated Press , as reported by Ukrinform.
Zelensky noted that the issue of deploying European peacekeepers in Ukraine was raised by French President Emmanuel macron and U.S. President Donald Trump.
“I said in the presence of the two leaders that we are interested in this as a part of the security guarantee, but not as the only guarantee of safety. That's not enough,” Zelensky emphasized.
He also pointed out that many questions remain regarding the command and control structure, the number of troops, and their positions.
“Imagine, there is a contingent. The question is who is in charge? Who is the main one? What will they do if there are Russian strikes? Missiles, disembarkation, attack from the sea, crossing of the land borderline, offensive. What will they do? What are their mandates?” Zelensky noted.

When asked if he had posed these questions directly to Macron, Zelensky replied that the dialogue is ongoing.
"We are still in the process of this dialogue," he said.
As Ukrinform reported, Zelensky emphasized that negotiations between the U.S. and Russia without Ukraine's involvement are dangerous.
