7 Dead, 15 Injured In Bus Accident On Nashik-Gujarat Highway In Maharashtra


(MENAFN- Live Mint) Nearly seven people died and fifteen were injured after a luxury bus fell into a 200-foot gorge on the Nashik-Gujarat Highway in Maharashtra, reported News18 on Sunday. Exact details of the accident are yet to be confirmed.

According to news agency ANI, the accident occured in Gujarat's Dang district early Sunday. The luxury bus was carrying over forty eight people from different cities in Madhya Pradesh. They were travelling in a private bus to different pilgrim sites located in Gujarat, Mahrashtra, etc.

These pilgrims were from Guna, Shivpuri and Ashok Nagar districts of Madhya Pradesh, the official told PTI.

Accident on Nashik-Gujarat Highway

The accident occured early morning on Sunday when the driver lost control of the vehicle near the Saputara hill station, in-charge Superintendent of Police SG Patil told PTI.

"Five pilgrims died and 17 others suffered serious injuries and have been rushed to a civil hospital at Ahwa. Some others have sustained minor injuries. The rescue operation is nearly over," the official said.

The pilgrims were on their way from Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra to Gujarat when the accident took place.

Pilgrims had made a brief stop at Saputara before accident

The passengers had made a brief stop at Saputara for a tea break. After a short halt they resumed their journey, but met with a deadly accident nearly 2.5 kilometers from the hill station.

The pilgrims, hailing from Guna, Shivpuri and Ashok Nagar districts in Madhya Pradesh, had set out on four different buses on December 23, 2024 on a trip to religious places across various states, he said.
