FM Participates In Cairo Ministerial Meeting

Cairo, Feb 1 (Petra) -- Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi Saturday joined a ministerial meeting in Cairo, which was attended by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Ati, United Arab Emirates Minister of State Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee Secretary-General Hussein Al Sheikh, and Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
The meeting issued the following statement:
At the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, a meeting was held in Cairo on the first of February at the level of foreign ministers, with the participation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, as well as the Secretary-General of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization for the State of Palestine, and the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. The parties participating in the meeting agreed on the following:
1- Welcoming the ceasefire deal in Gaza and the exchange of hostages and detainees, commending the efforts made by the Arab Republic of Egypt and the State of Qatar in this regard, emphasizing the important and appreciated role of the United States in achieving this agreement and looking forward to working with the administration of US President Donald Trump to achieve a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East in accordance with the two-state solution, and working to rid the region of conflicts.
2- Affirming support of efforts made by the three countries to ensure the implementation of the deal in all its stages and provisions, leading to a complete calm, emphasizing the importance of the durability of the ceasefire in a manner to ensure access of humanitarian aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip, removal of all obstacles to the entry of humanitarian and shelter aid and recovery and rehabilitation requirements in an appropriate and safe manner, the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and full rejection of any attempts to divide the Gaza Strip, and working to enable the Palestinian Authority to take its duties in the Gaza Strip as part of the occupied Palestinian territory along with the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in a way that allows the international community to address the humanitarian catastrophe the Strip has been exposed to due to the Israeli aggression.
3- Emphasizing the pivotal, indispensable and irreplaceable role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and the categorical rejection of any attempts to bypass it or limit its role.
4- Emphasizing, in this regard, the importance of concerted efforts by the international community to plan and implement a comprehensive reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip, as soon as possible, in a way that ensures the Palestinians remain on their land, especially in light of the steadfastness and complete attachment to their land that was demonstrated by the Palestinian people, and in a way that helps improve the daily lives of the Palestinians in the Strip on their land, and addresses the problems of internal displacement until the reconstruction process is completed.
5- Expressing continued full support for the steadfastness of the Palestinian people on their land and their adherence to their legitimate rights in accordance with international law, and affirming the rejection of any infringement of these inalienable rights, whether through settlement activities, expulsion and demolition of homes, annexation of lands, or eviction of the land from its owners through displacement or encouraging the transfer or uprooting of Palestinians from their land in any way or under any circumstances and justifications, which threatens stability and portends further expansion of the conflict to the region, and undermines the chances of peace and coexistence among its peoples.
6- Welcoming the intention of the Arab Republic of Egypt, in cooperation with the United Nations, to host an international conference on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, at the suitable time, and calling on the international community and donors to contribute to this effort.
7- Appealing to the international community, in this regard, especially international and regional powers, and the United Nations Security Council, to begin the actual implementation of the two-state solution, ensuring that the root causes of tension in the Middle East are addressed, especially through reaching a just settlement of the Palestinian issue, including the embodiment of the Palestinian state on its entire national soil and within the context of the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the June 4, 1967 lines. And in this context, supporting the efforts of the international coalition to implement the two-state solution and the active participation in an international conference to resolve the Palestinian issue and implement the two-state solution, chaired by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, scheduled to be held in June 2025.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Safadi held a series of consultations with the Egyptian foreign minister, the PLO Executive Committee Sectretary General and also met other ministers who attended the meeting.
