KUWAIT, Feb 1 (KUNA) -- Denmark and Croatia are bracing for the final of the 29th edition of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Men's World Championship in Norway on Sunday in a faceoff that is meant either to make history or to realize a dream.
The IHF Handball Championship kicked off on January 14 in three host countries for the first time in the championship's history, notably Croatia, Denmark and Norway.
Denmark defeated Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Chic and Brazil in group rounds and Portugal in semifinals. They are well-placed to make history by securing the fourth consecutive title.
The reigning champions are determined to leave no stone unturned to become the first team in history to win the title three times in a row.
However, Croatia will seek hard to accomplish the impossible mission and beat the title holders only to win the IHF Men's World Championship for the second time in its history.
Croatia has done a great job in its group matches by defeating Bahrain, Argentina, Cape Verde, Iceland, Slovenia, but lost to Egypt. It has scored its post in the semifinals and final after defeating Hungary and France respectively.
Having made an absolutely brilliant performance versus France in the semifinal, Croatia topped France 31-28 in Zagreb for a spot in the final, hoping that its team could carry on its victories to bring the title home once again.
Croatia celebrated their only World Championship title in 2003 in Portugal, when they defeated Germany 34:31 in the final. (end)
