Turkey thoroughly monitors advances in Syria
(MENAFN) Turkey is thoroughly monitoring latest advances in nearing Syria and taking essential steps amid renewed battle among the Bashar al-Assad regime and armed opposition groups in the nation, Leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated on Monday.
"We are closely following the developments that erupted suddenly in our neighbor Syria over the past few days,” Erdogan informed a mutual media summit with his Montenegrin colleague Jakov Milatovic in Ankara, the capital of Turkey.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) executive Ibrahim Kalin are in continuous communication with their colleagues and holding meetings, he noted.
Ankara is thoroughly following the condition on the ground in Syria that matches its national security goals and is making all essential steps to avoid unfavorable results, stated Erdogan.
"It is our greatest wish that Syria’s territorial integrity is preserved and the instability ends with a consensus in line with the legitimate demands of the Syrian people," noted Erdogan.
He highlighted that Ankara is always willing to "do whatever we must to put out the fire" in the region.
