International Community Needs To Follow Paris 1.5°C Roadmap - German FM

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 21. As the international community, we must do everything possible to finally stay on the 1.5-degree path outlined in Paris, said Annalena Baerbock, Germany's Minister for Foreign Affairs, at a press conference at COP29, Trend reports.

"The climate crisis is the largest security challenge of our time, and it transcends national borders, affecting even the most powerful military nations. It is indifferent to geopolitical tensions and even to election dates," she said.

Unlike geopolitical conflicts, where the responsibility for establishing peace lies with governments and societies, Baerbock argued, resolving the climate crisis is no longer solely in our hands.

“If we cooperate closely as an international community, we can at best contain the climate crisis. That's why we come to climate conferences every year – because every tenth of a degree matters. As the international community, we must do everything we can to finally get on the path of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees, as set out in Paris,” she added.
