ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 26. South Korean
energy company Doosan Enerbility has announced plans to establish a
representative office in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana, as part of
its expanding presence in the country, Trend reports.
The announcement came during an official visit to South Korea by
a Kazakh delegation led by energy Minister Almassadam Satkaliyev
from October 22 to 25.
Following negotiations with Doosan Enerbility, the Kazakh
Ministry of Energy signed a memorandum of understanding with the
company. The agreement outlines plans for localizing energy
equipment production, training Kazakh personnel, and setting up a
Doosan representative office in Astana.
Throughout the visit, Minister Satkaliyev engaged in discussions
with representatives from major Korean energy companies and
government officials, covering a range of collaborative
opportunities, particularly in the nuclear sector. During the
talks, Korean officials congratulated Kazakhstan on the successful
referendum supporting the construction of the country's first
nuclear power plant.
The Minister also explored partnership opportunities with South
Korea's Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy, with a focus on
oil, gas, and renewable energy projects. In addition to Doosan
Enerbility, discussions involved prominent companies such as Korea
Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP), Korea Electric Power Corporation
(KEPCO), Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC), and Samsung
C&T.
Meanwhile, currently, Doosan Enerbility is working on a 1,000 MW
gas power plant in the Turkestan region. In partnership with KEPCO
KPS, Doosan is also conducting a technical assessment of
Kazakhstan's energy infrastructure, focusing on reducing emissions
