IICO Spends USD 11 Billion In Support Of Two Million Palestinians Since Oct '23

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 16 (KUNA) -- International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) stated Wednesday that it has spent more than USD 11 million to more than two million Palestinian beneficiary since October of last year, as part of Kuwait's steady and unwavering stance by the Palestinian people.
IICO Chief Dr. Abdullah Al-Matouq in press statement said that this encompasses 86 relief projects covering multiple avenues, in cooperation with various Kuwaiti, Palestinian, Jordanian, Turkish and Egyptian organizations.
The Islamic Organization mobilized all assets, whether in air bridges, ships, or truckloads, to provide the people of Gaza with much needed supplies, Al-Matouq added.
They worked on establishing some refugee centers, reconstructing others, as well as projects providing drinkable water and medical services of necessary equipment, medication and medical teams.
On the educational level, IICO prepared five tents to receive 1,200 students, both providing jobs for teachers and education for students, explained Al-Matouq adding that they have also sponsored an online learning project for some 500 college students.
The Organization also distributed foodstuff packages and ready meals as well as winter attire and coupons.
Al-Matouq went on to speak of the initiatives adopted by IICO to boost local community capabilities, whether in agriculture, construction or strengthening food security.
On garnering international support, Al-Matouq stated that a conference was held in coordination with United Nations humanitarian office to boost humanitarian intervention and early recovery for Gaza Strip with some 147 organization participating.
The organizations vowed to execute a host of projects costing more than USD two billion to support the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Al-Matouq relayed thanks and appreciation for the donors who helped support IICO's projects throughout the past year, affirming their intent on furthering their projects in support of the people of Gaza. (end)
