Allegations surround Ukraine training army in Africa

(MENAFN) Evidence of alleged Ukrainian military activities in Mali has emerged, according to the Russian military blogger behind the Telegram channel GREY ZONE, which is reputedly connected to the Wagner private military company. This information was reported by RT, highlighting a situation that has stirred significant controversy.

The blogger, Nikita Fedyanin, known by the alias 'Beliy' or 'The White,' provided photos purportedly showing Ukrainian military instructors operating in Mali. These instructors are said to be associated with Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, the GUR. The images suggest that these instructors have been training Tuareg separatist militants in Mali. Moreover, it is alleged that they have secretly transported at least two groups of these militants to Ukraine to learn how to operate FPV (first-person view) drones.

Fedyanin, who had been working on a detailed report about these claims, was killed in an ambush by Tuareg fighters over the weekend. At the time of his death, he was reportedly traveling with a convoy from a private military company and the Malian army near the village of Tinzawaten, located close to the Algerian border. This region has recently been a hotspot for clashes between Tuareg insurgents and the Malian military, which is reportedly supported by the Wagner Group.

Graphic footage from the ambush has surfaced online, showing numerous bodies and burned-out vehicles, with militants celebrating their victory. The footage also indicates that a military helicopter providing support to the ambushed group was damaged and had to make an emergency landing. Some members of the private military company involved were reportedly captured by the Tuareg fighters.

This development has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing conflict in Mali and the broader geopolitical landscape in Africa, where external military involvement continues to play a significant role.
