Survey For Panjshir-Kabul Water Supply Project Completed

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The media office of the interim government in Panjshir province has announced the completion of the water transfer project from the Panjshir River to Kabul.

According to the office's statement on Wednesday, July 24th, the surveying and planning for the provision of clean water from the Panjshir River will officially begin following approval from the leader of the Taliban.

The statement notes that the project will cost 170 million dollars and, once completed, will provide drinking water to approximately two million residents of Kabul.

The Ministry of energy and Water of the Taliban stated that the 200-kilometre clean water project from Bazarak to Tara Khil will address the issue of clean drinking water in Kabul in the near future.

Residents of the capital have consistently criticized the lack of clean drinking water in Kabul.

In addition to these challenges, Afghanistan is facing a severe drought that has exacerbated the water crisis across the country.

The prolonged lack of rainfall has led to diminished river flows and reduced groundwater levels, significantly impacting water availability for both personal use and agriculture.

The drought has also strained the country's already limited resources, making it increasingly difficult to manage and distribute water effectively. Many regions, especially rural areas, are struggling with severe water shortages, which has intensified the need for immediate and long-term solutions.

Addressing these water issues is crucial for the well-being of Afghan citizens and the overall stability of the country. Effective implementation of water projects and improved management of resources are essential steps toward mitigating the impact of the ongoing drought and ensuring access to potable water for all affected communities.
