Video With Song Karabakh Appropriated By Armenian Singer Removed From Music Platforms

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 24. The video with the song Karabakh, appropriated by Armenian singer Gor Yepremyan and belonging to Azerbaijani composer Bahram Nasibov, has been removed from YouTube and other music platforms, the joint report of the Ministry of Culture and the Intellectual Property Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan said, Trend reports.

“As previously reported in the media in recent days, the lyrics of the song Karabakh (Karabakh is the cradle of all dreams), the words and music of which belong to Azerbaijani composer Bahram Nasibov, were changed by Gor Yepremyan and posted in his performance on the YouTube platform under the name "Sirun Jan" with the label "Armenian Folk," i.e., "Armenian Folk music".

In this regard, an extensive commentary by the Intellectual Property Agency was published on July 9, 2024; a joint statement by the Ministry of Culture and the Agency on July 10; and a joint information on July 12.

The preliminary result of the measures taken was that the video “Sirun Jan," posted on Gor Yepremian's official YouTube page (the original source of the offense), was removed by the management of YouTube due to copyright infringement, and appropriate work was done to remove this video from digital music platforms (“YouTube Music”,“Spotify”,“Apple Music”,“Amazon Music”,“Deezer”, etc.) by the distribution company“CD BABY”.

As a result of the work done, we declare that with the support of the Agency on behalf of Adil Nasibov, the heir of composer Bahram Nasibov, and the and the technical support of the Public Association“Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry” ( az/), accredited by the Agency, based on an appeal to the YouTube administration in connection with the infringement of Nasibov's copyright, the above-mentioned video with the song performance by Gor Yepremyan was removed from the YouTube platform, and by the distribution company CD BABY, from YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and other digital music platforms.

To note, since the music of the song“Aghji Jan,” performed by Arut Pambukchyan, coincides with the song Karabakh (Karabakh is the cradle of all dreams) by Azerbaijani composer Nasibov, it was removed from the YouTube platform.

Therefore, the fact that the words and music of the song Karabakh (Karabakh is the cradle of all dreams) belong to Azerbaijani composer Bahram Nasibov and his copyright was violated by Armenian performer Gor Yepremyan was confirmed by the management of YouTube and other digital music platforms such as YouTube Music, Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer, and the violated rights of the composer were restored,” the report says.
