Ukraine In Dialogue With Moldova To Return Men Evading Conscription - Ambassador

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Ukrainian authorities are holding a "certain dialogue" with their Moldovan colleagues regarding the return to Ukraine of military-age men who fled to Moldova.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Moldova Marko Shevchenko said this during a program on TV8, Ukrinform reports, citing Maker .

According to Shevchenko, the current "legislation and legal framework on refugee issues in Europe and Moldova are not adapted to the situation that Ukraine faced during the war" and "no developed procedure anticipated the start of a full-scale war in Europe in the 21st century and the appearance of millions of refugees and those who are popularly called 'draft evaders'."

He stated that, first and foremost, it is necessary to resolve the issue with men avoiding military service who have been refused asylum in Moldova, but who do not return to Ukraine.

"As for Moldova, we have a certain dialogue," Shevchenko said, referring to the return of men of conscription age to their homeland.

At the same time, he noted that this problem is difficult to solve, since there is no single verified statistic on the number of military-age men who entered Moldova.
