Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban expressed their disagreements before the meeting. Additionally, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico issued a stark warning afterward, suggesting that admitting Ukraine as a NATO member—unlike the non-binding but misguided discussions about 'irreversibility' highlighted during the meeting—could potentially guarantee a World War III scenario.
Erdogan and Orban diverged from the prevailing conformity within NATO, which has increasingly favored the often narrow and self-interested perspectives of the United States Their dissent was marked by rational critiques of policies that align with both reason and their national interests.
