Gaza authorities report over 320 deaths in past 2 days due to Israel's use of forbidden arms

(MENAFN) Local authorities in Gaza reported on Monday that over the past two days, more than 320 Palestinians have been admitted to hospitals across the enclave with severe burns linked to the use of internationally prohibited weapons by the Israeli army. In a statement from Gaza's government Media Office, medical assessments indicated that many of the patients suffered from third-degree burns, with several victims succumbing to their injuries. The authorities attributed these injuries to weapons used by the Israeli military.

The statement noted that the weapons in question are primarily US-made and are classified as chemical or thermal weapons, which are internationally banned from use against human populations. The Gaza authorities held the US government legally responsible for supplying such weaponry to Israel, highlighting the complicity perceived in the ongoing violence.

As of now, neither the Israeli army nor the US administration has commented on these serious allegations. The situation in Gaza has continued to deteriorate, with Israel facing widespread international condemnation for its ongoing offensive, which has persisted since an attack by a Palestinian group on October 7 of last year. Local health authorities report that nearly 38,700 Palestinians have been killed, predominantly women and children, with over 89,000 others injured due to the conflict.

More than nine months into this brutal onslaught, large areas of Gaza are left in ruins, compounded by a crippling blockade that severely restricts access to food, clean water, and essential medical supplies. Israel is currently facing accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which has issued a ruling demanding an immediate halt to military operations, particularly in the southern city of Rafah. This city had become a refuge for over 1 million Palestinians fleeing the violence before it was invaded on May 6, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.
