Chinese passenger car exports increase, new energy vehicles grow

(MENAFN) In June, China's passenger car exports reached a remarkable 378,000 units, marking a 28 percent increase compared to the same month last year, while remaining stable from the previous month. This data, released by the China Passenger Car Association, highlights the robust growth in China's automotive export sector. A significant contributor to this surge is the recovery of the South American market, where Chinese-branded car exports hit 325,000 units in June, reflecting a 31 percent year-on-year increase. Additionally, exports of luxury vehicles and cars produced by joint ventures involving Chinese and foreign investments totaled 54,000 units, a 12 percent rise from the previous year, as reported by Xinhua.

The data also indicates a substantial growth in the export of new energy vehicles (NEVs) from China. In June alone, NEV exports reached 80,000 units, up 12.3 percent year on year. This upward trend extends to the first half of the year, with NEV exports totaling 586,000 units, a 21.2 percent increase compared to the same period last year. The figures underscore China's expanding presence in the global market for environmentally friendly vehicles.

Moreover, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers provided comprehensive data covering all domestic passenger car manufacturers. Their report revealed that retail sales of passenger cars in the first half of the year surpassed 9.84 million units, representing a 3.3 percent year-on-year increase. This steady growth in domestic sales, alongside the booming export market, illustrates the dynamic nature of China's automotive industry and its significant role in the global automotive landscape.
