Turkey claims that elements in West want WWIII

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has issued a stark warning, accusing certain Western powers of pushing the Ukraine conflict towards a catastrophic global war. Speaking after attending a Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, Erdogan criticized Western elements for their aggressive stance and criticized the arms industry for fueling the crisis by supplying military aid to Ukraine.

Erdogan highlighted Russian President Vladimir Putin's efforts to propose peace initiatives aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict through dialogue. Despite Moscow's diplomatic overtures, these efforts have been dismissed by Ukraine and its Western allies as unrealistic and insincere, exacerbating tensions in the region.

During discussions at the SCO summit, Erdogan emphasized Turkey's role in monitoring the situation closely and expressed hope for a peaceful resolution between Kiev and Moscow. His comments underscored concerns over escalating conflict dynamics in Eastern Europe, contrasting Russia's calls for dialogue with Western strategies that Erdogan criticized as exacerbating global instability.

The meeting between Erdogan and Putin on the sidelines of the summit further highlighted divergent approaches to resolving the Ukraine crisis. While Erdogan emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic channels, Putin reiterated Russia's readiness to negotiate a peace agreement, affirming that avenues for peaceful resolution remained open despite ongoing tensions.
