Chinese leader meets with Hungarian Prime Minister in Beijing

(MENAFN) Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's recent visit to Beijing included high-level discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping focused on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Orban, emphasizing China's role as a pivotal power in shaping conditions for peace in the Russia-Ukraine war, highlighted the significance of his visit following President Xi's official trip to Budapest just two months earlier.

The meetings between Orban and Xi took place at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, where both leaders delved into strategic dialogues concerning regional stability and international relations. Orban, upon arriving in Beijing, described his visit as "Peace Mission 3.0," underscoring Hungary's proactive diplomatic efforts to contribute to conflict resolution efforts.

Prior to his trip to Beijing, Orban held discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, where they explored potential diplomatic initiatives aimed at addressing the Ukraine conflict, enhancing Russia-Europe relations, and bolstering European security frameworks.

Hungary's current role as the holder of the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union until the end of the year adds a significant backdrop to Orban's diplomatic engagements. This leadership position amplifies Hungary's influence within EU policy-making circles, underscoring its commitment to fostering dialogue and pursuing diplomatic solutions to complex geopolitical challenges, including the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
