Empowering Pakistani Women: How Technology Is Breaking Barriers And Creating Opportunities

(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) In Pakistan, where the ratio of working women in various fields is notably lower than that of men, technology is emerging as a gateway of opportunities for women. Tools such as mobile phones, laptops, the internet, social media, and digital platforms are accessible to women regardless of their educational or social backgrounds. By utilizing these tools, Pakistani women can elevate their living standards and contribute positively to society.

From childhood, women often grow up hearing that they are inferior to men and should not work outside the home, making quality education seem unnecessary. The conservative social structure also means women are often denied their rightful share in property and excluded from major decisions, such as marriage, especially in rural areas. Additionally, economic constraints, growing insecurities, and favoritism make it challenging for women to progress. Consequently, many women lose heart and give up the struggle. However, advancements in technology have the power to dismantle these barriers in various ways.

Firstly, technology offers free learning opportunities, such as e-books, international and local magazines in digital form, and courses on different subjects via YouTube and WhatsApp groups. These resources are not only helpful for academic purposes but also beneficial for practical life. For example, a college friend of mine watched videos on YouTube about making woolen items. Gradually, she began creating and selling woolen gloves, jewelry, handbags, and baby wear sets, receiving customer orders in a short time. This experience demonstrated how positively technology can influence our lives when we recognize its value and use it to our advantage.

Furthermore, I have been working as a content writer for over two years without needing to leave my home. This highlights another aspect of technology: the ability to work remotely from the comfort of one's home. Given the cultural and safety concerns for women in our country, it is beneficial for women to engage with available opportunities. Depending on their interests and qualifications, these opportunities can include freelancing, online teaching, e-commerce, virtual assistance, blogging, digital marketing, AI-based creation, and more. For women with lower levels of education, initiatives like starting a YouTube channel for cooking, clothes designing, crafting, and painting can be fruitful.

The recent introduction of YouTube audio players and their monetization has further expanded the scope of technology. Women passionate about music and audio-related activities can now pursue their interests without fear of compromising their honor through video or pictures.

Thus, effectively using technology can open doors to prosperity for women in Pakistan. Regardless of their educational background, location, or family conservatism, women can meet their needs and contribute to their country. However, consistency is essential for success. Promoting awareness about using mobile phones, the internet, and various applications can help create a socially and economically empowered Pakistan.
