JHCO, JAF Dispatches 32-Truck Aid Convoy To Gaza

(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN - The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO) and the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab army (JAF) dispatched a humanitarian convoy consisting of 32 trucks to the war-torn Gaza Strip.

The convoy which was prepared in partnership with the World Food Programme carries basic food packages, relief supplies and items including hygienic supplies and tents, in addition to medical supplies, according to a JHCO statement sent to The Jordan Times.

JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said that the convoy was sent with support from the Indonesian Students Union in Jordan, the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, Tkiyet Um Ali and other local relief campaigns.

Shibli also noted that Gaza at this point has an acute shortage of blood units, and there is an urgent need for blood bags as lots of patients in the strip are in dire need of blood transfusions.

He also reaffirmed“the unwavering Jordanian commitment to bring relief to and meet the basic needs of Palestinians in Gaza.”

A campaign in cooperation with the Jordanian Professional Associations was recently launched, so that blood donations would be sent via land convoys in order to be distributed to health institutions and hospitals in the Gaza Strip, he further said.

“Up until today a total of 2302 trucks and 53 relief airplanes via Al Arish have been sent in support of Gaza,” he added.
