Summer Christian Camp For Ukrainian Children Held In Philadelphia


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Philadelphia hosted a Christian summer camp, "Fun Vacation with God. God's Wisdom", which was attended by 32 children aged 6 to 13 years, including refugee children who came to the United States as a result of the war in Ukraine.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on facebook by the St. Sophia Society (USA), which organized the camp.

The event was held at the Spiritual Center of the Sisters of the Order of St. Basil the Great of the Province of Christ the Man-lover in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.

According to the report, the organizers worked out the topic with the idea of the fundamental foundations of the Christian faith. The program was created to combine the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people.

"As part of the camp, the children analyzed the significance of God's Wisdom in the life of every Christian on the example of the creation of the world, the life of Solomon, and the parables of Jesus Christ; prayed; learned songs; danced bansa; and learned needlework; took part in workshops on making drawings with coffee, painting linen bags and pencil cases, creating aromatherapy salt kits; learned the basics of financial literacy; learned about the folklore heritage of Ukraine; enjoyed cotton candy; played educational and movement games; participated in a talent show," the post reads.

The program was compiled and led by Iryna Ivankovych, head of the Hagia Sophia Society in America, with the active support of animators, whose training was provided by the society through the organization of workshops throughout the year.

It is noted that this is the eighth initiative of the Hagia Sophia Society of the United States in the field of spiritual education of the younger generation of Ukrainians. The event was supported by the Ukrainian Federal Credit Cooperative "Samopomich" in Philadelphia.

In March, during his visit to the United States, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Sviatoslav Shevchuk, held a divine liturgy at the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Holy Family in Washington, D.C., during which the attendees prayed for a just peace and victory for Ukraine.
