Group Of People From Kharkiv Region Evacuated To Transcarpathia By Train

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) A group of 17 people from the Kharkiv region, including women with children, the elderly and families with disabilities, were evacuated to Transcarpathia.

This was reported by an Ukrinform correspondent from the scene.

As Natalia Lakatosh, director of the Transcarpathian Regional Centre for Social Services, commented during the meeting of the evacuation train, 17 people from Kharkiv region were evacuated to Transcarpathia.

"These are families with children, the elderly, families with people with disabilities. We will accommodate them in Velykyi Bychkiv, in a shelter for IDPs on the second floor of a gymnasium. It has all the conditions for comfortable living, with rooms to stay in, kitchens and showers. It will be very convenient. In addition, people are fed there - it is provided by the community," she added.

According to Lakatosh, two weeks ago, Transcarpathia already received evacuees from Kharkiv region, and the people were placed in a boarding school in Vilshany.

The head of the Proliska humanitarian mission, Yevhen Kaplin, said this was the second evacuation train to arrive in Transcarpathia from Kharkiv region. There will be more in the coming weeks.

"This evacuation to Transcarpathia was launched on our initiative with the support of Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk. "Proliska operates in 13 regions of Ukraine, 9 of which are near the frontline. In Kharkiv region, we are actively evacuating people from Lyptsi, Vovchansk and other northern communities where the fighting is taking place to the city of Kharkiv. Unfortunately, there have been four recent incidents when Russians have carried out bombing attacks near IDPs' locations, so we have offered people to move to Transcarpathia region, where it is calm and there are free places in the shelters," Kaplin said.

He also stressed that in Transcarpathia, Proliska has equipped 27 shelters since the beginning of the full-scale invasion (helping with furniture and household appliances), and the shelter in Velyky Bychkiv is just like that.

"The evacuation from Kharkiv region is just beginning, such trains will come regularly. Currently, there are about 500 seats in the Transcarpathian shelters. If we decommission other facilities, we will have another thousand seats. This will be enough in the near future," Kaplin said.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that more than 4,000 people have already been evacuated from the settlements of Kharkiv region where the fighting has intensified.
