Qatar, France ink agreement to bolster bilateral ties


(MENAFN) A high-level Qatari-French economic delegation recently visited Toulouse, located in the Occitanie region of southwest France, aimed at bolstering bilateral ties between Qatar and France. The visit underscored ongoing efforts to strengthen economic relations with various French cities.

Led by H E Sheikh Ali bin Jassim Al Thani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the French Republic, the delegation included representatives from the Qatar Chamber, Qatari Businessmen Association, and the Qatari-French Economic Association “Cadran”, along with prominent figures from Qatar's business sector.

The delegation engaged in a comprehensive agenda during their visit, which encompassed tours of industrial sites, major companies, and research centers in Toulouse. A pivotal component of the visit was a business roundtable meeting, facilitating discussions on potential collaborations and investment opportunities.

Toulouse, renowned as France's third-largest employment hub and a hub for aircraft manufacturing, electronics, informatics, and biotechnology, presented numerous avenues for cooperation. The visit highlighted the city's attractiveness for production and innovation, prompting discussions on new economic partnerships.

A significant outcome of the visit was the signing of a twinning agreement between the Qatar Chamber and the Toulouse Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This agreement aims to fortify economic ties and foster mutual growth between Qatar and Toulouse, paving the way for expanded collaboration across various sectors.

The delegation commenced their visit by meeting with Patrick Piedrafitta, President of the Local Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Toulouse, and Jean-François Rezeau, President of the Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Occitanie. These meetings included panel discussions addressing investment opportunities and strategies beneficial to both countries.
