Doha, Qatar: The Social Science Department at Ideal Indian School has conducted the school parliament election to provide students with a practical learning experience about the Democratic process.

This exercise involved mock elections where students could nominate candidates, run campaigns, and cast their votes in a simulated environment.

Three parties were formed: Democratic, Republic, and Justices. This initiative aimed to help students understand the importance of informed voting, the role of candidates, and the mechanics of elections, including ballots and vote counting. A polling booth was set up to give students first-hand voting experience.

The principal and heads of departments also participated in the voting process. The voters for this election were from classes 9 and 10.

The Social Science Department integrated this practice into the social studies or civic education curriculum, enhancing students' awareness of their civic responsibilities and the workings of government. By engaging in this process, students gained practical insights into democratic principles and developed skills for active citizenship in school
