Doha, Qatar: Veteran real madrid striker Joselu Mato is set to join Qatar Stars League's (QSL) side Al Gharafa, reports doing the rounds suggested on Monday.

The 34-year-old Spaniard decided to leave Los Blancos following the arrival of French striker Kylian Mbappe though manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to retain the forward, who scored twice against Bayern Munich to take Real Madrid into the Champions League final. Joselu fears of getting less playing time with Vinicius, Rodrygo and young Endrick also in the ranks, the reports said.

While some reports linked Joselu to a Saudi Arabia move, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who specialises in news about football transfers, said Joselu was in advanced talks with Al Gharafa.

“Joselu leaves Real Madrid and he's set to join Qatari side Al Gharafa, decision made! Deal at final stages with Al Gharafa as details will be clarified soon with the striker. Ancelotti wanted to keep Joselu but he's set for new chapter in Qatar,” Romano tweeted on Monday.

Al Gharafa have made no announcement in this regard.

The Cheetahs, who finished third in the QSL, will hold their pre-season training in Slovakia from July 16 to August 1.
