Red Cross Office Building In Gaza Strip Damaged By Gunfire

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that 22 people were killed and 45 injured. Their office in Gaza was damaged due to projectiles believed to be“Caliber” hitting the vicinity, where hundreds of civilians were present.

In a statement on social media, the center reported that as a result of the incident, a significant number of casualties, including 22 deaths and 45 injuries, were transferred to the Red Cross field hospital located in the area.

The agency also stated that these attacks have inflicted substantial material damage on the Red Cross office.

The statement emphasized that such dangerous shootings near humanitarian facilities marked with the Red Cross emblem endanger the lives of civilians and Red Cross personnel.

Furthermore, the International Committee of the Red Cross reiterated in a continued statement that this alarming security incident is one of several recent occurrences where stray bullets had previously struck ICRC buildings.

Additionally, the Gaza Health Ministry reported that 25 people were killed and 50 wounded in this bombing by the Israeli military. The ministry pointed out that Israel targeted“displaced persons' tents in the Al-Muassi area” surrounding the ICRC base.

Meanwhile, an Israeli army spokesperson did not admit involvement in the incident but stated that an investigation was underway. They told AFP,“Preliminary investigations indicate no indication of an Israeli army attack on the humanitarian area in Al-Muassi, but the incident is under review.”
