Ministry Of Agrarian Policy Forecasts High Winter Crop This Year

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This year, the ripening of crops and, accordingly, the harvest began two to three weeks earlier than usual.

Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi said this during the 'United News' telethon, Ukrinform reports citing the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

"We have three main winter crops - barley, wheat and rapeseed. There is also winter rye, but its area is much smaller than these crops," he said.

According to Vysotskyi, the country plans to harvest about 21 million tons of wheat, five million tons of barley, and four million tons of rapeseed.

"This is a good figure. It is higher than the average for the last decade," he said, adding that early ripening had a slight impact on crop yields and gross harvest.

Vysotskyi specified that this year's grain harvest is expected to reach 56 million tons, and oilseeds - 21 million tons.

"The total is expected to be about 77 million tons," he said, noting that the corn figure could still change.

As reported, Ukraine is ending the current marketing year 2023/2024 with the ending stocks of agricultural products at the average level, as it was before 2022. In the next marketing year, agricultural exports will amount to more than 60 million tons.
