The Professional Branding and Talent Agency of America is pleased to announce that Celebrity Houston Tax Attorney, John Mitchell has received the "Excellence in Community Service Award" at the annual awards ceremony in Houston, Texas sponsored by Marylou Magazine.

John Mitchell is a tax attorney and IRS Enrolled Agent with nearly thirty-five years' experience in all aspects of tax practice. John started his journey in that tax field in 1990 doing 1989 tax returns“by hand.”

“In these many years in the field, I have seen a lot. Still, every day I am seeing new things and learning and growing to better serve my clients,” John said. Currently, John works for the boutique tax law firm, Cantrell & Cantrell, PLLC. Named-partner Patrick Cantrell (himself a tax attorney with over 50 years' experience) recently said,“John has an exceptional knowledge of tax law and procedure and is imminently qualified...”

John currently specializes in tax controversy including IRS Examinations, IRS Collections, and IRS Appeals matters as well as litigation support in the United States Tax Court.“I try to handle each and every case as if I were doing it for myself or a close family member,” John said.

Marylou Magazine is a Spanish-language publication that has been a staple in the Houston community for over twenty-three years now. Marylou Ruiz, the magazine's director is also a well-known figure in the city's media scene having worked in television and radio as well as being a well-known master of ceremonies.

“We are very pleased to give John this well-deserved recognition in honor of his decades of faithful service to the Houston community, and especially the disadvantaged folks among us like low-income households and immigrants,” said Ruiz.

John is an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) since 2015 and in that same year he graduated law school in Guadalajara, first in his class, and became a licensed attorney in Mexico before returning to the US. He then went on to pass both the United States Tax Court Exam as well as the California Bar Exam, a rare feat, earning him the designation of United States Tax Court Practitioner (USTCP) as well as the moniker of Attorney at Law. He holds a Master of Science in Taxation (MST) degree as well as being a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI)®. He is a television personality and author as well as being a well-known public speaker.

These achievements are not the reason for the award, though. The“Excellence in Community Service” award was particularly in recognition of John's advocacy for the immigrant community which has been a passion of his for many years now.

In his personal life, John is a husband, a father of two, step-father of two, and grandfather of two. He enjoys music, books and movies as well as travel and spending time with family.
