'Sanxingdui Encounter' Expo Opens At Katara

Doha: Director General of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti inaugurated on Sunday the“Sanxingdui World exhibition of National Treasures (Sanxingdui Encounter): A Global Tour of 12k Micro Viewing of National Treasures,” exhibition at Building No. 1. This event is part of Katara's efforts to build bridges of communication and exchange between different cultures and peoples.

The exhibition, organized in cooperation with the Sanxingdui Museum in China, features posters of the ancient city of Sanxingdui and its ancient civilizations. Sanxingdui is one of the oldest archaeological sites in Southwest China. Archaeological discoveries since the 20th century have revealed that the Chengdu Plain was the center of ancient civilization in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and a significant part of Chinese civilization.

The exhibition includes various artifacts such as a bronze head statue from the Shang dynasty, a bronze statue with a beast crown, and highlights the heritage value of the Sanxingdui-Jinsha sites.
