Slovenia Floods: Ukrainian Rescuers Strengthen 150 M Of Dreta River Bank


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The combined unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine continues to help carry out restoration works in the flood-affected Republic of Slovenia.

"On August 12, the combined unit conducted an engineering inspection of the work site. 150 m of the riverbed were cleared and widened, and 150 m of the bank were strengthened," said Serhiy Kruk, head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the Service posted on telegram .

As Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko noted , our rescuers know their job well: a few introductory meetings – and the work is in full swing.

According to him, this is how the EU Civil Protection Mechanism works – the format of mutual support and assistance.

As reported, Slovenia has been suffering from heavy rains since the beginning of August. The storm caused landslides and a dam breach in the country.

On August 11, the President of Ukraine signed a decree on the provision of humanitarian aid to Slovenia to overcome the flood consequences. On the same day, Ukrainian rescuers went to help their Slovenian colleagues.

Two main locations were identified for Ukrainian rescuers to work in the Dreta riverbed.
