Court of Cassation convicts man to 12-year imprisonment

(MENAFN) The Court of Cassation has supported a February Criminal Court judgement, convicting a man to 12 years imprisonment following condemning him of killing a man amid a fight in Karak in March two years ago.

The court first stated the respondent guilty of firing as well as murdering the casualty on March 9, and gave him a 20-year prison ruling.

Nevertheless, the law court later lessened the ruling to 12 years because the casualty’s family released the charges on the respondent.

Court reports stated that the respondent and the casualty involved in “a heated argument” in the street.

“The argument became heated, and the defendant drew a gun and fired a round of bullets at the victim’s head, killing him instantly,” the court affirmed.

The court handed its sentence depending on “witnesses who were involved in the brawl”, the law court records read.

Moreover, the court counted on a ballistic statement as well, reading that “bullet extracted from the victim matched the gun used by the defendant”.
