India Says Sri Lanka Is An“Important Partner” Ahead Of Wickremesinghe's Official Visit


(MENAFN- NewsIn.Asia) New Delhi, July 18: Ahead of the official visit of the Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe to India beginning on July 21, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday issued a statement saying that Sri Lanka is an important partner of India in its quest for“Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR).”

The release said that at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the President of Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, will be in India on an Official Visit on July 21. This will be President Wickremesinghe's first visit to India since assuming the current responsibilities.

During his visit, President Wickremesinghe will meet President Droupadi Murmu and hold discussions with Prime Minister and other Indian dignitaries on a range of issues of mutual interest.

“Sri Lanka is an important partner in India's Neighbourhood First Policy and Vision SAGAR Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR). The visit will reinforce the longstanding friendship between the two countries and explore avenues for enhanced connectivity and mutually beneficial cooperation across sectors.
