Corporate Launches Women Empowerment Program In Egypt

Cairo – A private sector company based in Egypt, PepsiCo, has expanded the“She Works Wonders” program. Through factory training, the program empowers recently graduated women in typically male-dominated professions.

The success achieved during the first edition and the skills showed by the participants led the organizers to broaden the scope to increase the number of beneficiaries to 1,200 in its second edition. The first meeting of job opportunities will be held by the end of the program, featuring major companies and partners of the program to provide job opportunities for the participants.



Program brings together corporates and the public sector in Egypt

The program was launched by the beverage company in cooperation with INJAZ Egypt, which specializes in training young women for the workforce, under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, and the National Council for Women.

The program aims to increase sales and supply chains, and in a recent addition, the field of technology in partnership with communication and technology company Vodafone Egypt, as well as food companies Nestlé, Danone Egito, P&G and Mars, and Microsoft and Cisco.

In addition, the program is supported by several organizations, including UN Women in Egypt, USAID, Pathfinder International, and the Egyptian Coalition for Equality.

Mohamed Shelbaya, CEO of PepsiCo North Africa, said the company has achieve a great success in empowering women to rise into leadership roles inside the company. The female share in management positions reached 40% and the female workforce occupies 27% of the administrative roles in the company, which has over 14,000 employees.

Dina El Mofty, founder & chairwoman of INJAZ Egypt, said that the“She Works Wonders” program significantly contributes to driving girls' ambitions forward and achieving their future career dreams. She also stressed the important role women play across all fields, including the Egyptian workforce and society.
