1965 -- Mashaan Khudhair Al-Mashaan passed away at age 73. He was member of the Al-Ay'an council in 1920, member of the legislative council in 1921, member of the municipal council in 1932, and member of the Ma'aref (education) council in 1936. He was the first head of the financial administration in 1938. The deceased was also member of the committee establishing the electoral law in Kuwait, a founder of the first national airline, the Ahmadi School, and a philanthropist.
1972 -- Kuwait Government issued an order whereby in state tenders, priority was given to local products and services, provided they comply with Kuwaiti standards.
1973 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signed an Amiri Decree establishing the Faculty of Medicine in Kuwait University. Studies began in 1976-77 year.
1986 -- The National Assembly was dissolved after one year and four months of its sixth legislative term. Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who ordered the dissolution, said people witnessed "days passing through historic junctures, comples us to do comprehensive review of relations between principles and practices, between the nation's supreme interests and minor practices that undermine efforts ..." 1986 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah signed a decree amending some articles of Publications Law 3/1961. Accordingly, a newspaper may be suspended for no more than two years or its license revoked if the publication was found to be serving the interests of a foreign country or authority, printed stories were conflicting with national interests, or found to be receiving any form of support without the knowledge of the Ministry of Information. The Minister of Information might also suspend a publication for no more than three months.
1986 -- Ministry of Information subjected all periodic publications for pre-publication scrutiny.
1994 -- Kuwait Union for Women's Societies was proclaimed, under chairmanship of Sheikha Latifa Fahad Al-Sabah, spouse of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah. The Union joined the UN-based international women federation.
2012 -- Ministry of Information launched "Kuwait Alyoum" website at the ministry's building.
2014 -- Kuwait donated around USD 900,000 to build "Kuwait house" to support Muslim education in the Chinese city of Ningxia.
2016 -- Preemptive strikes by Kuwait security forces managed to thwart three terrorist plots by the so-called Islamic State (IS) that aimed to destabilize the country.
2016 -- Kuwait National Assembly agreed to amend Procedure Law 3/2013 to apply only on crimes.
2018 -- Kuwait Health Ministry launched an electronic information system for laboratories to obtain the results of the tests online.
2019 -- Kuwait National Assembly voted against a no confidence request submitted by 10 MPs against Finance Minister Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf. (end) bs
